This was, by far, one of our favorite trips. Ucluelet, a small resort town on the western coast of Victoria Island, BC, is situated on a beautiful stretch of coast line that is also the graveyard for hundreds of ships that rest at the bottom of waters surrounding the Broken Island chain.
It's a five hour drive across the island from Victoria but it's a route filled with some of the most beautiful Endor-Ewok-village Led Zeppelin "Misty Mountain Top" old growth forests you've ever seen. We settled right into the landscape and immediately fell in love with the area's coastal drama.
I packed an engagement ring knowing this would be the perfect place and occasion to ask Laura to marry me. And it was. That happened in the first few days of the trip so we could see and experience the island and coastline as a newly engaged couple.
