Laura and I spent a little less that a week in Iceland (October 14 - 21, 2016) but it was an unforgettable vacation. Plenty of friends told us how inspiring the landscape and history of the island would be but we were still unprepared for what we saw and experienced.
The Blue Lagoon was the perfect way to relax after the flight and settle into the trip. We spent two days in Reykjavik (plenty of time) before Driving into the countryside. Our cabin in Grimsnes was our base for day trips into the Icelandic landscape. It's not a huge island but you can only cover so much territory when the speed limit is 90 kmh (55 mph). Vik was the farthest destination we reached but we covered many of the Golden Circle sites such as Gullfoss, Thingvellir, Geysir, Fludir's Secret Lagoon, and Skógafoss.
This is the first gallery of an island that we will be returning to again. And again.
